OUR STORY
IT ALL STARTED WITH A PRAYER MEETING
November 4, 2018
25 of us gathered together in an office space to pray and seek God’s face. We weren’t sure if we would even become a church, we just knew God wanted to bring us together. This kicked off two months of gathering every Sunday night to pray.
OUR FIRST SUNDAY GATHERING
January 6, 2019
We held our first Sunday gathering, crammed on the second floor office of a picture framing studio.
GOD GIVES US A NAME
April 28, 2019
After 6 months of being a nameless church, God gave us the name “99.” We were called to be a church in San Francisco for the one.
During that period, we changed our church name every week in lighthearted fun. Some notable names that almost made the cut: Mario Party Church, Birdbox Church, We Voted Church.
THE FARM ERA
August 4, 2019
After spending nearly a year, shoulder to shoulder in the small room of a picture framing studio, we moved to a new building: the Farm.
Who could forget the barbed wire gate at the entrance and the tiny, but extremely loud bathroom, right next to our meeting area?
THE SUMMER GOD MADE US A FAMILY
September 6-8, 2019
99 held its first ever churchwide retreat: Summer Camp. That summer, God transformed us from a community into a family.
THE PANDEMIC ERA
March 22, 2020
The world went into lockdown due to the global pandemic and 99 moved all of its services online. This would mark the start of a difficult and painful season of loss and change as we navigated the pandemic together as a community.
GUESS WHO'S BACK
May 2021
After over a year of doing church online, we opened our doors again for in-person gatherings. The landscape of our community had drastically changed with so many people moving away during the pandemic. Yet, we felt God ushering us into a new season of rebuilding.
THE VERDI CLUB ERA
August 7, 2022
After 3 years at the Farm, we moved our church to our current venue: the Verdi Club.
